Today, We have to read this article: http://www.today.com/parents/8-life-skills-all-18-year-olds-should-have-checklist-t68666 and write two paragraphs on it. Ok, sounds easy enough.
As a summary: The 8 life skills all 18-year-olds should have are:

For this blog post, we were supposed to choose from two options: pick a rule you have in school or at homw that you don't agree with and explain how it's terrible, or if you could be in a video game, which would it be and why.
OH BOI This is actually something I have thought about many times, so I have a list. It's kinda long.
I am thankful for all the people who create. Those great people who work hard at what they do, and present it for all to see and judge. Even though many judge very harshly and accentuize the negative, these people work to create and give at least a few people the chance to smile. People who strive to be better, who always are wanting to help others, not themselves.
I am thankful for those who are unique. Those brave people who stay true to themselves and do what they want to, without worrying about other's judgement. They are my idols, and I hope to be like those great people someday. I am thankful for the world. For without it, all life would cease to exist, the universe would never be explored, and global destruction, blah blah blah, you get the gist. I am, however, not thankful for stupid websites deleting all my work and forcing me to write this all over again instead of working on my other homework and essentially wasting my whole free time, and I don't have study hall today so I'll have to bring all this stuff home. Thanks, Weebly. My thoughts on the recent election are, and forever will be, why would we ever elect a cheeto with a 3$ wig and no experience running a country as president.
I have never really felt strongly for Hillary, and I would much prefer Bernie, but I cannot believe so many people voted for Trump! He's a racist, sexist homophobic bigot who cannot be trusted with nuclear launch codes. He wants to reinstate stop-and-frisk tactics. His running mate supports torturing gay/lesbian youth to change their sexuality. Both of them are against the LGBT community, and this is one of the reasons I am against Trump the most, because my mom and stepmom are lesbian. On November 9th, After Trump won, I found a note on the table from my mom. It said that even if she and her legal spouse were separated, she would continue to help support me and my siblings. I also have been seeing a lot of panic on Tumblr (yes, I have a tumblr. its good for reading comics) about the election. Out of all 120-something blogs I am following, over half are affected by a Trump presidency. One even said that four of his friends had attempted suicide a day after the election. I don't really have anything else to say, other than I am incredibly mad at any and all Trump supporters. You are either extremely uneducated, or just plain terrible people. I have no idea what I am going to write here. I started on a draft for something else, but I realized I would never be able to finish it in time. I guess i'll just talk about some other random things then.
I am very bad at coming up with ideas, along with the fact that I am currently having writer's block. I was thinking about explaining why I like a certain cartoon so much, and why other people might like it. Then I thought about maybe listing some other things I was into, but then I realized that made me seem vain, so I didn't. But, then again, I am listing it here, so people already know I am narcissistic. Actually, I did just come up with an idea, so I'll start on that now. Thank you, brain! Entropy is a really cool word. It is mostly used in mathematics, but I know the word better with it's other definition, regarding space (space is really cool). Entropy, in this form, is used to describe the slow degradation of black holes, through loss of energy. I won't be able to explain it that thoroughly, but In A Nutshell on Youtube has a great video on that, and other really cool things. I like to think of black holes like a really destructive fire, which has to keep consuming matter to stay lit. However, black holes have a lot more pent up energy, and don't release it as much. Except for when black holes die. When a fire dies, it just goes out, pretty calmly with a bit of smoke. When black holes die, they release a whole lot of energy that can destroy entire solar systems. In A Nutshell did a video explaining this too, where they say that a black hole with the mass of a nickel (not size, that's WEIGHT) could cause an explosion so large it would tear the earth in half, turning it back into a molten ball of lava again. Well that was a lot of off topic things! I think I have enough in there, and the period is almost done, so I'll end this here. 2. What event sets the rising action in motion?
I think that the event that starts the rising action is the part when he first mentions the 'fat lady,' on line 41. This event also gives the main antagonist of the story. 3. What internal conflict is plaguing Martin in lines 81-84? In lines 81-84, Martin considers taking the stairs in order to avoid the old lady, but then he thinks that doing so would prove he is a coward. 6. In lines 145-160 the story takes an unexpected turn. How might this development affect Martin's conflict? In this part, Martin falls down the stairs and ends up having to wear a brace and have crutches. Firstly, this makes it harder to him to walk/run away, so the lady could get to him. Secondly, now his dad is really not impressed, and now would never believe Martin's story. 7. Judging only by line 175, the climax of the story, is Martin in danger? Explain your opinion. I definitely think Martin is in danger, because the old lady has been shown to A) not care about Martin's personal space, meaning she could be a pedophile (sorry, the word works), and B) smile when Martin runs away, so she possibly knew about how he would fall and hurt himself. 8. The author ends this story at the climax. What is your opinion of the plot's development and of leaving the conflict unresolved? Explain. I think that leaving the conflict unresolved is a good writing tactic! It makes the audience think about the previous work, and it also might make them want to read it again. The plot development is also really good for the story, because there is no falling action at all, and the end is the climax. What 3 character traits are most important for a U.S. President?
1) Honesty- I don't think anybody would want a liar as a president. Anybody who lies about how much money they have, previous criminal acts, or tax evasion shouldn't be president, because how do we know they're being honest about their campaign? How do we know they will go through with what they propose? This includes simply not stating relevant facts, as well as outright lying. 2) Ideas/Creativity- I believe a good president has good ideas, about how they want to improve the country and deal with outside threats. They should know when to intervene and when not to. Also, a good president shouldn't have to steal other's campaigns, they should be able to support themself. 3) Experience- I think that government experience is another important character trait. For someone with previous experience, they know how to react to a lot of difficult situations that most people wouldn't know what to do with. A good president should be able to be calm in the face of danger, and keep their wits when they are being attacked. As you should be able to see by my choices, I do not support Donald Trump in the slightest, because he has no experience, and has lied about several things he has done. DO NOT VOTE FOR HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!! hes just an angry cheeto Let's see, what would I do with a small loan of a million dollars...
Probably the first thing I would do is buy a computer, one I could play games on and stuff like that. Right now I have to share a computer with my brother, and it's in his room, not mine. I would ask his help for different parts to add, because he is a lot better at that sort of thing. I would want the computer to be a good one, so it would take my savings down to... around $800,000? I would also get a drawing tablet, because I have no way to color any of my artwork right now, and I really should get into digital drawing. This wouldn't cost much at all compared to the PC, only a couple hundred. Next I would help pay for a better house for my mom. Right now I have to share a house with 5 other people, and I have to share a room. I do like where we live now, but a bigger house would be nice. My mom has a couple ideas from when she first moved. Maybe $1-200,000 left now? Depends on how good of a house we would get. The rest of the money I would put into college savings, because that is always a good thing to do. College is important, mah brosephs! :D 1) Aha! Moment...
In Raymond's Run, I think that the Aha! moment was right after the race, when Squeaky realized it didn't really mattered if she won or not, because she realized that she wanted to train Raymond to run anyway. She had never thought about Raymond being a runner, but now that she saw him run, Squeaky knew he would be fast. 2) Plot... Exposition: Page 38 This is where Squeaky talks about her brother Raymond, and what she does at her house, and how she deals with bullies. She talks about her speed and the race coming up. Rising Action: Page 41 This part of the plot has a bit of exposition about Gretchen and her 'friends,' but also sets the scene and provides the conflict, Gretchen. I also think that when Squeaky goes to sign up for the race is part of the rising action. Climax: Page 44 The climax is the race alongside Raymond, but moreso the suspense afterwards. The climax is the part with the most excitement, and the race had me on the edge of my seat (not literally, because these desks are weird, but figuratively) Falling Action: Page 46 This is the part after Squeaky realizes Raymond could be a good runner, when she is just thinking about how Gretchen might be able to help and such. The falling action is usually pretty short. Resolution: Page 46 So Sqeaky (sorry, Miss Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker) wins, she and Gretchen make up, and Raymond gets to have fun. Hooray! Extra Questions... a. How do you know if something is worth effort? Give an example of a time when you worked hard for something. Why was it worth it? I think that something is worth effort when you feel good about it. If you put enough work into something, it feels good to finally complete your task! Only a few days ago I decided to do a drawing that actually had a background woah and I started to work on it. It took a lot more work than my other sketches and such, but it looked totally awesome when it was done! It was definitely worth it because my mom is going to eventually frame this one, which will make it look even more cool! c. Give an example of an Aha Moment you recently had. (Think of the "lightbulb" going off right above your head) How did this change your situation? An 'Aha!' moment I recently had was during summer break at home. I was beginning to think of what I could do for Halloween this year when my mom took out some GENU-INE TROLL HORNS THAT WERE EXACTLY WHAT I HAD THOUGHT OF WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING and I started putting together my costume in my head and everything just fit perfectly into place! Thischanged my situation because before I was unsure of what to go as, but now I had a great idea of what to do! d. Think of someone (or yourself) that may have a disability. How has this disability affected how this person is judged (or explain maybe how it doesn't). So, my sister has autism (just a bit), and it has affected her a lot. Right now she seems fine (she is on snapchat 24/7 so yep usual teen girl right there yep) but when she was little she got angry a lot and attacked me and my brother sometimes. She was also bullied a lot in Junior High by some other girls, and has a hard time making new friends. |
