I recently reread this book, and I could very easily see the resemblance between the two books. Both Odysseus and Percy met extremely similar challenges; the Lotus plants that acted like a drug for Odysseus and the Lotus Hotel and Casino (a heaven for video games and a time-altering trap) for Percy; Circe, who turned Odysseus' crew into various animals and Percy into a guinea pig; the Sirens, who sing to Odysseus and to Percy's companion Annabeth; Scylla and Charybdis, two monsters that swallow heroes like Percy and Odysseus whole; and finally the Cyclops Polyphemus, who they both blind in a battle. With these two books so similar, I could only think about them.
Later on while reading, however, I realized there are more connections between The Odyssey and modern life than just this one book series. The Odyssey contains many themes that relate to modern day life, including loyalty and egotism. In my notes, specifically questions 12, 19, and 24, though there were more not encompassed by these questions.

Finally, I was running out of time and had to cut a scene where Jay and Julie expressed surprise about realizing they were on opposite sides. It was completely cut on the first draft, but I added some slight confusion on Jay's part in the final draft. Though it was a lot less than what I originally wanted, I think it helped add a bit more believably to the final few pages.
